I am a Pediatrician and Professor, Departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine & Community Health, University of Minnesota; Director, Developmental- Behavioral Pediatrics
Program.
I am a Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), and Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH); Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Medical Hypnosis. I am past-President, Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis (MSCH) & Past-President. American Board of Medical Hypnosis. I've been Director of Education & Training for the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis for 26 years. I've taught Advanced Pediatric Hypnosis Workshops at most ASCH Annual Workshops over the past 32 years. I was Co-Chair, 1986 Annual ASCH Workshops, Co-Chair, 2006 48th Annual Scientific Meeting, and Co-Chair, Advanced Workshop Program for the 50th Annual Workshops in 2008. I've been Vice- President twice before and am currently Vice-President, ASCH (2011-2012). I am an Associate Editor for the AJCH and Ericksonian Monographs, and reviewer for several Hypnosis and Pediatric journals.
I've taught Pediatric Hypnotherapy Workshops through the Society for Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics annually (1987-2009), for SCEH, MEG (Berlin), several European Child Hypnosis Congresses (Heidelberg), in Australia, Amsterdam, and for ISH Workshops in Toronto, The Hague, Jerusalem, Melbourne,
Singapore, & Rome. I am co-Founder and co-Director of the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute (NPHTI).
In 1992 I received the ASCH Award for excellence in teaching, and in 1993 the AJCH Milton H. Erickson Award of Scientific Excellence for writing in Hypnosis. I've been honored as recipient of the Thomas Wall, DMD award and twice as recipient of the AJCH Josephine Hilgard award.
I am co-author (with Karen Olness) of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy with Children - 4th ed. (2011), and have published many journal articles and book chapters.
